Scholars discuss advancements in Bio-Prospecting at KMCH

Marina’19 – the 11th National Conference on Recent Trends in Bio-Prospecting and its Challenges was organized by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt of India; and supported by Kovai Medical Center & Hospital on 16.10.2019.

The conference was conducted to create a platform for bioscience students and Research Scholars to focus on significant areas of biotechnology like Marine, Animal, Plant, Herbal, Microbial, Pharmaceutical and Bioinformatics. The focus was to gear up the students of the present to meet the forthcoming challenges, as the field of Bio-Technology around the world is advancing in technology.

The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. C. Shankar, Chief Executive Officer& Vice President, Tamil Nadu Integrated Waste Water Management, Chennai. The Technical Session was handled by 2 resource persons. Dr. Ayyasamy, Professor, Periyar University spoke on microbes and microbial products for sustainable development of agriculture.
Dr. S. R. Prabagaran, Professor, Dept of Biotechnology, Bharathiar University spoke on the topic: Bio-Prospecting at Home – Today Onwards.

Participation from other colleges and universities were entertained which brought close to 100 students across Tamil Nadu.
