Last day nears for Children’s Day Stamp Design Competition

Every year, the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India organizes a Stamp design competition for children across India on the occasion of Children’s Day. Given that the two momentous occasions for child rights -30 years of Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989-2019) and 70 years of UNICEF in India (1949-2019) coincide this year, the Department of Posts is partnering with UNICEF to launch this year’s Children’s Day stamp design contest on the theme of Child Rights.

Accordingly, entries are invited for Children’s Day 2019 – Stamp Design Competition”. The theme of the competition is “Child Rights”. The participants are to make original design on the subject (should not be copy of picture painted/creative by someone else).

Children studying in classes 1st to Xll th can participate in this contest. The drawing/ painting could be in ink, water color, oil color or any other medium (Computer printed/ printout will not be allowed). The design submitted should be such as can be depicted on the stamps in a visually appealing manner so as to be of interest to philatelists/collectors. Participants are free to use drawing paper, art paper or any other type of white paper of A4 size.

The design should be sent through “Speed Post” only, in A4 size envelope. The name of the participant, Gender, Age, Class, Nationality, Residential Address and Contact number should be added and sent to: Assistant Director General (Philately) Room No. 108,Dak Bhawan Parliament Street,New Delhi-110001. The participants should mention “Children’s Day 2019 – Stamp Design Competition” on the envelope in which the drawing is sent.

The entries are invited from 07.08.2019 to 20.09.2019. The entries received after last date of receipt will not be entertained. The entries should reach on following address by 20.09.2019.Result will be announced by 14.11.2019 at www . indiapost . gov . in and postagestamps .gov.in

The prize winning designs will be considered for use on stamps and other philatelic material. The prize money will be Rs.50,000/-; Rs.25,000/- and Rs.10,000 to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners.
