FCP at HICAS focuses on Improving Rural Education

The PG and Research Department of Biotechnology, Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore and Nature Science Foundation, Coimbatore jointly organized a sponsored 5 Days Faculty Development Programme on “Rural Immersion and Community Engagement in Improving Rural Education” by the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in the College premises.

Dr. G. Rajalakshmi, Head of the Department welcomed the Gathering. Smt. Sarasuwathy Khannaiyann, Managing Trustee and Dr. Priya Satishprabu, Executive Trustee and Secretary, Hindusthan Educational and Charitable Trust felicitated the programme. Dr. A. Ponnusamy, Principal of the College Presided the event.

Rajalakshmi, Chairman, Nature Science Foundation Coimbatore introduced the Chief Guests. Dr. B. Divakar, Senior Consultant and Dr. B.S.C. Naveen Kumar, Senior Faculty, Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India delivered Inaugural Address.

As a part of the Programme, various topics dealing with the Curriculum design, bridging the gap between rural settings, Understanding Child Psychology, Community engagement and Development were discussed. As a Part of the Program, the Faculty members and Researchers visited Perur Chettipalayam Village in Coimbatore and done Resource Mapping of the Village and engaged in the Community Development. Dr. Mohammed Rafiq Khan, Assistant Professor of Biotechnology rendered the Vote of Thanks.
