World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year from 1 to 7 August to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world. This year, WHO is working with UNICEF and partners to promote the importance of family-friendly policies to enable breastfeeding and help parents nurture and bond with their children in early life, when it matters most.
Rotary Club of Coimbatore Midtown has made a major contribution towards the upliftment of Human Milk Bank at CMCH including donation of Breast milk expression Pumps, Renovation of Kangaroo Mother care room.
Opening ceremony of new Human Milk Expression room and renovated Kangaroo Mother care centre took place on 1.8.19, and inaugurated by Dr. B.Asokan, Dean, CMCH, Rtn R.Madhav Chandran, District Governor, Rtn S.Rajasekar, District Governor Nominee, Rtn. Dr. Sanju Thomas Abraham, President, Rtn. Senthilkumar. C, Secretary and Members of Rotary Club of Midtown participated in the function in a large gathering. The Donor of this facility is Vijaya Babulal Mandot & Family.
The Human Milk Bank will be beneficial to about 1500-2000 low birth weight babies each year.
