Rain kills 28 in Pak, 13 in Nigeria & 78 in Nepal- Report

As we witnessed a building collapse in Mumbai on 16.7.2019, killing 13 already; in a similar way a 3-storey building has collapsed in Nigeria killing 13.  The incident happened in the city of Jos in Nigeria. As per sources, the collapse had occurred after 3 days of heavy rain. Since the incident happened on working hours, the majority of inhabitants were out; still it took away thirteen lives and 7 are being treated in the hospital.

Due to heavy rain and flash floods that occurred in Neelum Valley in Pakistan occupied Kashmir this week, 28 have died and approximately 150 houses have face destruction in the area. 2 mosques have been damaged in the course while people remain stranded. This deluge was caused by a cloudburst and the district administration and disaster management are onto the rescue operation.

Meanwhile in Nepal, sources reported that 78 have died in Nepal due to flood that is fostered by the monsoon rains. 68 have been injured in landslides and 30 are still missing. The monsoon rain’s impact has been hard since 11.7.2019. Major highways have been blocked due to flood and mud. Rainfall received in Nepal this year is said to be 6,656 mm. The public have said that there was no alert given to them about the oncoming flood.

From tomorrow, the Disaster Management Authority of Kerala has issued red alert to Idukki, Mallapuram  for three days from July 18, Wayanad and Kannur from July 19 and Ernakulam on July 20.

Government has said that it has issued Red Alert as the districts are ‘very likely to receives extremely heavy rainfall’. The government has already cautioned the people to keep an emergency kit handy and be ready for evacuation if the district administration says to.
