Engineering offers 38% of Job employment in Tamil Nadu

The Consortium of Self-Financing Professional, Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu (CSPASC-TN) conducted ‘Tholainokku 2019’, a free seminar on Directorate of Technical Education’s (DoTE) ‘online counseling’ for Engineering Aspirants at Coimbatore on June 26, 2019.

The core-objectives of this event were to create awareness on online counseling and admission process for engineering; convey to the students who are in their 12th about the abundant career  opportunities one can have when he/she studies Engineering and  most of all, the event aimed to weed out the fake notion that engineering won’t yield promising opportunities that is conveyed by the movies and social media memes.

R.S.Munirathinam, President, CSPASC-TN presided over the event. S.V.Balasubramaniam, Chairman, Bannari Amman Group of Companies and Malarvizhi, Chairperson, Sri Krishna Group of Educational Institutions were the Guests of Honor. T.D.Easwaramoorthy, Chairman, Easa College of Engineering & Technology and the Joint Secretary of CSPASC-TN took the whole responsibility of conducting this event.

More than 400 students participated in the program, listened to the guest speakers from Industry and Academia, raised questions and had a healthy interaction.

P.V.Ravi, Chairman, Park Group of Educational Institutions welcomed the gathering. He said that former Chief Minister M.G.R.’s role in the genesis of engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu is phenomenal and paid him respects. He conveyed that approximately 28-35% of people who work in Top Global MNCs are India Engineers.  Engineering has paved the way to the path of progress and it is the field that offers solution to our everyday needs. Indian Engineers’ support in the growth of global software engineering was undeniably high, he said. “Engineering will always be a productive and promising field, like it is today”, he ended.

R.S.Munirathinam, President, CSPASC-TN while addressing the press said “This program is also to highlight to the +2 students about the benefits of taking Engineering as their major in college. For instance in Tamil Nadu, there are 100 job opportunities and out of that, the field that offers 37-38% of employment is Engineering Field. In 4 to 5 years, this percentage will rise to 75%, as per statistics. We wish to highlight that to the students and aspirants. Many of the Engineers are in abroad in great positions and out of them 30% are those who studied Engineering in Tamil Nadu.

In 2017-18, about 1,20,000 students got lucrative job placements in the industry and the same increased by 25% last year were 1,50,000 Engineering grads got promising placements. There are many wonderful engineering institutions in Tamil Nadu that is on par with IIT in many criteria.  ”

S.V.Balasubramaniam, Chairman, Bannari Amman Group of Companies addressed the gathering and said ” An engineer can turn hell into heaven with his skills. Without Engineering, the world would be in stone-age. We, the people of Tamil Nadu are better in engineering since time immemorial. As far as job opportunities are considered, engineering students land in companies with great amount of salary packages well before their course gets completed. For this feat to be available for every engineering student, he or she has to work hard from Day 1 and not at the end of the 4th year.

Malarvizhi, Chairperson, Sri Krishna Group of Educational Institutions said “Engineering aspirants will need to unlearn and have the willingness to relearn. The field offers a wide spectrum for the aspirants to shine. All they need to do is focus. Devotion to studies, determination in the dreams and untiring effort will take them to places. Employment opportunity is high in this field. When a student improves his soft skills, technical skills besides academic proficiency, they can succeed immensely.

When there is 50-50 theory and application and skill based learning, students get the best of knowledge and experience. All that is circulating in today’s media about lack of job opportunities for engineering students is a lie. There are many colleges that offer you endless possibilities choose wisely and reach heights.”

Anbuthambi, Vice President at ICT Academy, Chennai,  in his address conveyed, ” The first 12 years of education is the first half of your education, the next 6 years is the next half and the paramount period where your higher studies stage remain and the 3rd part is the time you start to stand on your own. For the 3rd part to be cheerful and proud, you need to focus on your higher studies stage.  Engineering will provide you a global career and entrepreneurship opportunity if you express sincerity in the period of studies. As long as there are needs among people, engineering will present you with countless opportunities.”

Other distinguished guests Uday Shankar, Regional Head, NASSCOM, P. Neelraj, Secretary, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College of Engineering and Sivakumar Palaniappan, Professional Speaker addressed the gathering and inspired them.
