Siruthuli inspires 4000 students on its 16th Birthday

Siruthuli, a well-known and successful Eco-Friendly NGO in Coimbatore that was started in June 2003 by eco-conscious corporate leaders turned 16 on 17.6.2019.

On the momentous occasion, a massive outreach programme was conducted in 17 schools across the city reaching out to nearly 4,000 students explaining the importance of protecting the environment. Commemorating the day, a programme was organised at the Race Course road which was inaugurated by K Rajamani IAS – District Collector and attended by S.P. Anbarasan – Chairman, Nallaram Trust, Balaji Saravanan IPS – Deputy Commissioner (Law & Order) and other important dignitaries.

Vanitha Mohan, Managing Trustee, Siruthuli highlighted the glimpses of 16 long years of Siruthuli to the gathering with utmost pleasure and gratitude.  The District Collector congratulated Siruthuli team and its commendable work in the City. He also put forth the importance of safeguarding water bodies and he requested the support of all citizens of Coimbatore.

The celebration ended with planting of 16 tree saplings marking the 16 years existence of Siruthuli, alongside the Race Course walkway. A photo exhibition was also organised in the Race course walkway showcasing the important achievements over the past 16 years.

It must be mentioned that during the year 2018-19, Siruthuli has carried out successful de-silting projects at 3 ponds, planted around 13,800 trees in various locations and institutions, propagating the eco-conservation message continuously to hundreds of people across the City.
