Dr. NGPASC organized a national-level seminar  

Dr. N.G.P. Arts and Science College, the Department of Microbiology has organized the XVI Louis Pasteur Memorial National Seminar on “Novel Diagnostic and Drug Development Strategies for Infectious Diseases” which was sponsored by  DST-SERB recently.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ramanathan, Director, Center for Advanced Lung diseases and Lung Transplantation, KMCH, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Presided over by Dr. Muthuswamy, Director Academics, Dr. NGP Educational Institutions. Prof. Dr. K. Ramamurthi, Principal, Dr . N.G.P. Arts and Science College, provided the special address.

The conference theme is oriented toward the post-COVID scenario of dealing with novel methods of diagnosis and in the development of new-age drugs that help in identifying unknown targets within the cell. Keeping this in mind a diverse group of resource persons with varied proficiency have already given their consent in addressing the students in their areas of expertise. oral presentations and poster presentations from students were organized in parallel sessions.

In total, the seminar had 5 technical sessions majorly focusing on the impact of novel diagnostic methods and new drugs available in the society currently.

The valedictory session of the event was presided over by Dr. Rajendran, Associate Professor, Task Force Member – DBT, Department of Microbiology, PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore.

Around 35 oral presentations and 28 poster presentations were evaluated by external judges and the winners were awarded a shield and a certificate by the guests. Around 350 delegates took part in the event and benefitted from the outcome of the event.
