Eaton’s Coimbatore facility receives Zero Water Discharge certification

Power management company Eaton announced that its plant in Coimbatore, India, has been certified as zero water discharge. The plant is the first in Eaton’s Aerospace Group to receive the certification.

To achieve the Zero Water Discharge (ZWD) Certification, the team at Eaton’s Aerospace plant ensured 100% compliance to industry standards.

The Coimbatore facility is diverting at least 98% of used industrial water for reuse in machining and plating operations and new water meters were introduced for monitoring usage. The team has also taken on projects to reduce sanitary water like reducing the volume of flush tanks, reuse of treated sanitary water flushes and auto flow sensors in place of manual taps.

C.R.G.Sekaran, Plant Manager, Coimbatore, Eaton, said, “We reviewed and understood the needs for Zero Water Discharge (ZWD) Certification process and used the pre-defined checklist to identify the gaps. At the plant, we digitalized the process to analyze the trends and incorporated the concepts of Industry 4.0.”
