Ministers-Farmers’ Union Meeting : Consensus on 2 out of 4 issues reached !

Agriculture Minister of India Narendra Singh Tomar said after the meeting with protesting farmers’ representatives that the meeting concluded on a positive note.

He was reported saying that the talks were held in a very good environment & it concluded on a positive note. He also had said that Consensus on 2 out of 4 issues was reached between both sides.

The Government’s sixth round of talks with farmers’ unions at Vigyan Bhawan on Wednesday. Along with NS Tomar, Ministers Piyush Goyal and Som Prakash were present at the meeting.

Tomar said that the two sides have reached agreement on issues relating to proposed electricity law and stubble burning. Regarding the other issues, he said that the farmers’ union leaders kept insisting on the repeal of three farm laws, legal guarantee for MSP. The talks on these will continue.  The next meeting will be held on January 4, 2021.
