PM addresses CII Annual Session 2020 on ‘Growing Growth Back’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the #CIIAnnualSession2020 on the occasion of 125 years of Confederation of Indian Industry. His address was live on his official Twitter page- @narendramodi.

The PM spoke on the subject- “Getting Growth Back.” This was the Prime Minister’s first major speech on aspects relating to the Indian economy after the announcement of Unlock 1.0 

What the PM said?

The pandemic has affected every single sector but India has made sure that its industries are ready to face the fallout and return towards prosperity.

India will again come out on top to get its growth back and ‘Unlock 1’ is the 1st step towards prosperity and pave the way towards growth.

He said Intent, Inclusion, Infrastructure, Innovation and Investment are important with important and bold decision, and that have been taken to boost the economy.

Laws that are made post-Independence left farmers in hands of middlemen. “We have done a lot to help and protect the farmers. We have brought significant changes to the Agricultural produce market committee (APMC) Act.”

He said the India needs to invest in creation of a robust local supply chain that will strengthen its stake in global supply chain. “In this campaign, a big institution like Confederation of Indian Industry [CII] will also have to come forward in a new role post-corona”, PM added.

There will be new opportunities for the young, the PM said. “We have opened up many public sectors for private players. We will be integrated with the world but it does not mean that we will depend on other countries for strategic needs”
