Contractors Association goes High Court regarding employees’ April Salary

CCCA (Coimbatore Corporation Contractors Association) Secretary K. Chandraprakash is reported to have filed a case in the High Court regarding payment of employees’ salaries for April,2020. This measure was taken because of the current scenario in businesses caused by Lockdown.

The closure of private organizations due to COVID-19 has affected business much and that has led to a position where employers find it impossible to pay employees’ salaries.

On behalf of Coimbatore Corporation Contractors Association members, the Secretary suggested that employees’ salaries for April could be paid by ESI. He proposed another alternative that if the private organizations pay the salaries, then the amount paid as salary may be adjusted against the ESI remittance payable in the future.

A press release from the CCCA stated “The Coimbatore Corporation Contractors Association represented by its Secretary K. Chandraprakash has filed a case in the High Court on the above subject regarding payment of salaries to employees for the month of April 2020”

“14 similar cases have been filed all across the country. If Government agrees and implements the above suggestion, many employees will be saved from fear of losing their job and also boost private organizations to restart their operations with new zeal and motivation”.
