Sri Ramakrishna Hosp. spreads Awareness about Cancer by Walkathon

While February 4 could be just another day for the common populace, for the concerned citizens this day is very valuable. Feb 4 is the World Cancer Day and on this day Medical Fraternity and Charitable&Welfare Organizations volunteer to create awareness about Cancer and how the loss of life and normalcy could be controlled. This year, on the theme ‘I am and I will’, this important day was observed. The theme urges people to create awareness.

Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, known for taking outstanding measures to create awareness about all types of cancer joined hands with Vasavi Clubs International to organise a Cancer Awareness Walkathon.

The Walkathon was inaugurated by D.Lakshminarayanaswamy, Managing Trustee of SNR Sons Charitable Trust and Lakshmi, Dist. Governor, Vasavi Clubs- V501A. Dr.Guhan, Director, SRIOR also participated.

More than 300 members of NSS Clubs of Sri Ramakrishna Institutions joined with Vasavi Club members and participated in the walkathon.

The chosen route was from Women’s Polytechnic College to VOC Grounds road. Students carried placards that highlighted the importance of early detection of Cancer. The messages written on the placards fell on the eyes of passersby and bus passengers. The students and Vasavi Club members distributed awareness pamphlets to the public.
