Prana Lifeline launched; focuses towards quality of living ‘life’

N.Damotharan Centenary Lifeline- Prana was launched in the presence of Dr. B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Coimbatore Kendra and in the presence of other guests on 07.01.2020.

Marking a milestone in the journey of the NG Chandran Charities, the launch took place soon after its association with the International Association of Suicide Prevention (IASP), an international governing body for Suicide Prevention, under the World Health Organization (WHO).

Differentiating it as a ‘Lifeline’ and not a mere ‘helpline’, it invites focus towards quality of living ‘life’ and not just ‘helping’ save a life from harm. Addressing a growing need for meaning making in life and living, the youth and middle-aged and elderly are encouraged through this initiative to develop optimism, hope, resilience, and compassion for themselves and as a community.

The Toll-free lifeline number – 1800 121 203040  was publicly announced as an initiation in a workshop on ‘Fostering Mental Health and Suicide Prevention’. This workshop was attended by Psychology students from Kumaraguru Liberal Arts College and 5 other colleges in Coimbatore, at Sir C.V. Raman Hall.
