Nehru Arts and Science College along with Krishi Vighyan Kendra, Govt of India organized an awareness program on Jal Shakti Abhiyan in the college’s P.K.Das Auditorium.
Ettimadai A. Shanmugam, MLA of Kinathukadavu, who was the chief guest, delivered a special address on the importance of conserving water. He said that the fast depletion of groundwater level has led to drinking water crisis and for irrigation of crops. To improve the ground water level, the Central Government has been implementing the Jalsakhthi Abhiyan and creating awareness about the importance of conserving water and raising the ground water level.
Directors of Agriculture from Central and State Governments, Farm Scientists of Universities, Extension Officers and Farmers also attended the program. Dr.B. Anirudhan, Principal Nehru Arts and Science College presented award to the best farmers. Dr Kumaravadivelu, Senior Scientist and HoD Agriculture Engineering offered felicitation.
