Shankar IAS Academy comes to Covai; centre launched at X-Cut Rd

Shankar IAS Academy, one of the country’s most sought IAS academies has now come to Coimbatore. The Coimbatore branch was inaugurated on 9.6.2019 (Sunday) by the Chief Guest T.P.Sreenivasan, IFS (Retd) who is former representative to the UN Governor of India.

The Academy has a national presence and has earned great reputation for the wholesome development of the aspirants. With 126 out of the 759 selection in UPSC Civil Service Exams 2018 and 34 out of 89 selections in Indian Forest Service in 2018, the results produced in the last academic year by the academy speaks more about its quality than anything else.

The Chief Guest in his address congratulated the initiative of Vaishanavi Shankar and appreciated the support of R.S.Arun, Centre Head, Shankar IAS Academy in sustaining the vision of Shankar. “Shankar was the most humble and productive Civil Service trainer in India and I take this opportunity to pay my tributes to him”.

He said “Civil service exams want you (the candidates) to know everything” , he extended that what is more important is they need to know what is expected out of them. “You need to have a methodology to know what is expected to be known.” Talking about the academy, he said it can add great value and strategy which will help the aspirants in their pursuit. He counseled them to look for broader knowledge and not let themselves confined to a select area. He advised the candidates to read a lot of newspapers, especially The Hindu, which he said that he read and it was the prime source of info that gave him the foundation to clear IFS.

The Special Guest, Sultan Ahmed Ismail, MD, Ecoscience Research Foundation addressed the gathering and said the hardships candidates face in their pursuit of civil service will take them to heights. “Everyday there is something new in this world”, he advised the aspirants to have the habit of unlearning what they know and be prepared to take what is new. He also wanted them to avoid believing everything in the internet. “The websites have valid information but some are written by people who have their own ideas; don’t blindly believe what you see there”, he cautioned. You all are like eggs and if the pressure outside breaks your shell, it is a tragedy but if the passion inside breaks your shell,it is history”. He also recommended the gathering to read the state board textbooks of the TN Govt, which he claimed as the best in the country.

S.Chandrasekar, Faculty of the Academy’s Chennai branch spoke a few words, advising the aspirants to take a break if they fall short in their attempts and conveyed them that UPSC/TNPSC is all about character and attitude; and told them that their acceptance, flexibility and patience are key to victory.
