RCD’s Fund Raising Event for Providing Calipers

The Rotary Club of Coimbatore Downtown organized a fundraising event – “Roto Ride or Run 2023”, under the theme “We Walk to Make Special Children Walk”. The event included a walk, run, and cycling program to raise fundsfor providing calipers to economically underprivileged children aged 8 to 14.

Presided over by V. Balakrishnan, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore city, and inaugurated by Chella K Ragavendran, Rotary District 3201’s upcoming Governor for 2025-26, the event garnered support from key sponsors. Rtn. Lakshmi Narayanan, the project chairman, emphasized the initiative’s goal to assist children facing mobility challenges. The funds raised will contribute to providing prosthetic legs on the World Day of the Disabled. With around 800 participants, including 200 police persons, the competition recorded activities through fitness apps like “Strava.”

The success of the event was credited to meticulous arrangements by Rotary District Administrators, CDCA including District Director Rtn S. Gokulraj, Assistant Governor Rtn B. Ilango, Downtown President Rtn Mohanraj, Secretary Rtn Guhan, Treasurer Rtn Vignesh, along with the presence of Rtn Captain Balaji, Past Governors, Presidents and dedicated club members. Participants were honored with certificates, medals, T-shirts, socks, and Coco Nector Teneera drinks.
