Whatsapp will soon feature ads.

Chris Daniels, Vice President of Whatsapp has said that the company will soon place advertisements in between the status updates the users put in their account to generate revenue and promote business.

This move has had serious repercussions inside the administration side of Whatsapp. Some of the co-founders of the globally famous messaging app have left the company due to this decision by Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg who owns Whatsapp.

In 2016, Whatsapp promised to remain ad-free but has now broken that promise. As of now Whatsapp has 1.5 billion users around the world and more than 200 million users in India alone. The app, in its early days, was free for all and was arranged to be exclusive to those who pay annual payments for it but that decision was cancelled after knowing that it will lose precious amount of users who don’t have access to pay the annual fee via online/credit card. People prefer ad-free television channels, ad-free song and video streaming and what not, that is ad-free? In a time like this, we need to wait to know how this idea will be treated by the myriad users.

This new move will be effective from 2019 onwards.
