GKNM Hospital and College of Nursing Organize Awareness Program on World No-Tobacco Day

In honor of World No-Tobacco Day, GKNM Hospital and GKNM College of Nursing jointly organized an awareness program under the theme ‘We Need Food, Not Tobacco,’. The event aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and promote a smoke-free environment. Coimbatore Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mathivanan inaugurated the program, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to combat the tobacco epidemic.

Dr. Sivanesan, Chairman of the Department of Oncology and Consultant Medical Oncologist, was present as a distinguished guest and shared valuable insights on the detrimental effects of tobacco on overall well-being. Shanthi, the Principal of GKNM College of Nursing, played an instrumental role in coordinating the event.

To raise awareness among the public, students from GKNM College of Nursing along with the officials took a pledge to promote a tobacco-free society. Carrying placards adorned with various awareness messages, the students gathered at the Lakshmi Mills signal, a prominent intersection in the city. Their presence caught the attention of passersby and served as a reminder of the hazardous consequences of tobacco consumption.
