Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS), Coimbatore, organized an Online Expert Talk on “IPR: Patent Evergreening” on Wednesday. Valarmathi Director – VIMS, delivered Felicitation Address and spoke on the importance of IPR in this competitive market.
Arun Kumar, Master Trainer, EDII, Government of Tamil Nadu was the Resource Person. He addressed on Introduction of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and its need. He said that the majority of applications for patents were filed in India by Foreign nations compared with China. He explained various types of IPR such as Patent, Trademark, Copyright, and Industrial Design with examples, Plant variety protection and Geographical Indications. He also suggested that a trademark will increase the company’s value significantly and India is in the 40th spot in the Global Innovation Index based on 2023 data.
