Power Cut in TN: EPS & Senthil Balaji share opinions

Leader of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Edappadi K.Palaniswami moved a motion at the TN Assembly session on Friday highlighting the power cut issues faced by the public.

Sources shared that the former Chief Minister had pointed out that the increase in power cuts in the State has impacted the affairs of farmers, MSMEs while the power outage in cities is affecting the public. He urged the state government to end this frequent power outage and also to increase coal reserve supplies.

Earlier Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji said that the Central Government is providing lesser amount Coal to Tamil Nadu, and it has not yet provided the 296 MW that is marked for the State which is the cause of power cuts.

However, to address this challenge, power is being procured from private entities. Agreements have been made to import coal, hence there will not be power cuts in the State.
