With major push provided to Defence R&D in Union Budget for developing a vibrant ecosystem, from research, design and development to manufacturing, within the country, Crown Group Defence, a strategic partner to Indian defence forces in their commitment to promote Defence R&D has tied up with Amrita University, Coimbatore ranked as one of the best research institutions in India.

Crown Group Defence stated that the tie-up with Amrita University is for futuristic defence technology development in the areas of Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Block Chain, niche technologies pertaining to Naval Weapon Systems, Navigation, Direction and Communication and technologies for Water Mist based Fire Fighting System.
“With Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis upon developing Indigenous Defence Technologies under Make in India programme, it is the advanced technologies that will help end India’s heavy dependence on imports for defence capabilities. We should not import articles from outside and start developing our own. We have to be a technologically-advanced nation with many first-of-its-kind technology led innovations.” said Vice Adm Paras Nath (Retd.) AVSM, VSM, Group President, Crown Group Defence.
“This University collaboration is one of first among many academia collaborations with other reputed Universities for various Defence projects we are looking forward to in the coming days with the objective of meeting the burgeoning skill needs of India’s fast growing defence sector.” Said the Group President.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is one of the pioneers in offering MTech in Defence Technology jointly developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The MoU has been conceptualised to facilitate and undertake multidisciplinary research & developmental projects in critical defence technology areas and emerging security requirements.
