Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College granted and funded with Rs.118 Lakhs

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College has been granted and funded with a sum of Rs.118 Lakhs for the research project titled “Technology Development of Recycling of Aluminium (scraps) Alloys for Industrial Applications” by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the scheme of Technology System Development Programme. The fund received will be utilized to develop the “Technology Development of Recycling of Aluminium scraps suitable for Industrial Applications”. The project will be carried jointly with Council for Scientific and Industrial Research – National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST), Thiruvananthapuram.  The objectives of the projects are as follows:

  • To establish equipment setup to process the aluminium scrap for melting and refining
  • To study the distribution of aluminium and other inclusions through metallurgical examinations.
  • To establish technical know-how for recycling of aluminium alloys for Industrial applications.

The center was inaugurated by K.Ramasamy Chairman, M/s Roots group of Industries in presence of V.Ramakrishna, Chief Operating Officer, SNR Sons Charitable Trust. Dr.A.EbenaerJeyakumar, Director (Academics), Dr.P.Karuppuswamy- Professor and Head, Mechanical Engineering, Dr.N.Alamelu, Principal, C.Bhagyanathan, AP(Sr.G), Mechanical, Dr.P.Karuppuswamy, Professor and Head Mechanical Engineering, Dr.M.Ravi – Sr.Principal Scientist, CSIR-NIIST, Trivendram, V.Sundaram,  president , CODISSIA, Thiruganam, Vice president CODISSIA, O.A Balabubramanian, Director ROOTS casps ltd, Devarajan, Past President , CODISSIA  were also present during inaugural function.
