PSG observes National Safety Week

200+ students go through fire drill exercise

More than 200 students, faculty and other staff of PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PSG IMSR) and other PSG Institutions took part in a fire drill exercise conducted at the campus, as a part of National Safety Day activities on Friday.

The participants witnessed various fire safety demonstrations at the campus; they received guidance on using various types of fire extinguishers to put out the fire.  The theme for this year’s National Safety Day is “nurture young minds, develop safety culture”; and accordingly many students engaged in extinguishing the fire, as a part of this awareness activity.

Students from PSG College of Nursing, PSG College of Physiotherapy, PSG College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Science along with students of PSG IMSR witnessed and participated in the program.

A press release from the institution said that National Safety Day was observed as per the directives of the National Safety Council of India. Coimbatore District Fire Officer, P. Annadurai took part as the chief guest of this program.

“The event was organized by K.Rajagopal, Officer-Fire Safety & Medical Gas Supply, who has created a strong team of volunteers trained to handle the various safety devices available in the institution,” the official statement mentioned.

Dr. T.M. SubbaRao, Principal, PSG IMSR felicitated the gathering while Dr.V. Ramamoorthy, Head- Safety of PSG IMSR expressed his formal note of gratitude.
