Workshop on reducing carbon emission at KASC

Kongunadu Arts and Science College hosted a one day workshop on ‘The approach to carbon emission estimation from institutions’. It was organised by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Research and Development Cell of the college.

M. Dwarakanath, Former Director, Department of Science, Technology & Environment & Member Secretary, Puducherry Pollution Control Committee, Government of Puducherry, Puducherry was the resource person.

A press release from the college mentioned that Dwarakanath highlighted possible ways to reduce carbon emissions in house hold systems and institutions in day-to-day activity. Further, he explained the method of estimation of carbon emission according to Indian and International Standards.

“It was a sensitizing session about greenhouse gases emission and hence the environmental deterioration and health hazards. The importance of green auditing in educational institutions and organizations was also described well,” the press release added.

A total number of 52 faculty members and other environmental aspirants attended the workshop.
Earlier, S. Paulsamy, Dean R&D of the college welcomed the gathering, M. Dhanam, Principal (i/c) delivered the presidential address, S.R. Madhan Shankar, Dean- Academics offered felicitation, and at the end of the event P. Sujatha, IQAC Coordinator proposed vote of thanks.
