Organizations take initiative to improve Covai GH’s sanitation

The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry,Coimbatore (ICCIC), Coimbatore Cancer Foundation and the CSR arms of PRICOL and Messer Cutting Systems India Pvt. Limited have come together to tackle an equally challenging problem arising out of COVID – inadequate sanitation and the resultant toll on hygiene – caused by the huge numbers of patients being admitted into the GH every day.

A press note from ICCIC on behalf of the four organizations mentioned that while the doctors are taking best efforts to treat and save covid-affected patients, on the sanitation part, the standards are not upto the expectation.

While the CMCH administration is concentrating on attending to the patients and their treatment, maintenance of rest rooms and the wards have been put on the back burner due to inadequate number of staff to take care of the same.

The four organizations have offered to handle the cleaning of the entry point of CMCH, the Covid admission area, zero delay area, Covid ward and the Covid ward wash rooms. A well experienced housekeeping service provider has been engaged to handle this essentially needed area at CMCH, for a month as an experimental basis and to be continued after evaluation.

The project got kick-started on Monday and the people behind this initiaitve are certain that this will reduce the burden of the Government on sanitation to a greater extent.
