Vanathi Srinivasan requests CM Stalin to increase oxygen allocation to Coimbatore

Following the written request from Indian Medical Association (Covai) to help the hospitals in the district get more oxygen supply, Vanathi Srinivasan, the MLA from Coimbatore South Constituency, wrote to Chief Minister M.K.Stalin on Monday, and urged him to increase the allocation of oxygen to the district to help hospitals render better treatment to the Covid patients.

President of Indian Medical Association – Coimbatore Branch Dr.V.Rajesh Babu wrote to Vanathi on Monday, and eloborated her that 51 private hospitals, 4 Government Hospitals and 5 temporary Govt.Covid care centers are providing covid treatment to patients in the district during this pandemic.

He shared that everyday 2000+ patients get admitted in hospitals with covid conditions and 50% of them are in need of oxygen supply. He mentioned that shortage of oxygen is getting in the way of their treatment’s effect on patients.

Taking note of this, Vanathi Srinivasan wrote to Chief Minister M.K.Stalin and requested him to take all possible steps to expedite the manufacture of oxygen at Sterlite in Thoothukudi, and appealed him to stress the central government to continue their current allocation of oxygen to Tamil Nadu for another 10 days.

She highlighted how private hospitals are in immediate need of oxygen inorder to provide covid treatment to patients. She pleaded him to increase the oxygen volume that is allocated to this district, and also appealed him to direct officials to establish oxygen manufacturing units in every Government Hospital in the districts’ center across Tamil Nadu.
