KPR Mill continues to inspire guest-workers to pursue education

KPR Mill, one of Tamil Nadu’s leading textile players, has been providing valuable educational opportunities for its employees who had given it up due to financial or other reasons.

An education program for these employees, that is recognized by the government, was set up with proper syllabus. Teachers, classrooms and coaching are provided to these employees.  Though these opportunities were first introduced and provided to employees who had studied in Tamil or English medium; in 2019 it opened its doors to guest workers/migrant workers.

In October 2020, 10 guest workers of the mill appeared for 10th and 12th exams in the National Open School System. The results of all these students got published on Monday, and they have been very positive, and this good outcome has ignited the love for learning in  270 guest workers who have enrolled to continue their studies via KPR Mill’s education program.

It must be noted that for the convenience of the undertakers of the program who are from Odisha, the mill has brought Teachers from Odisha so that the guest workers can get educated in Hindi or Oriya.
