Good news for UK; Govt approves Oxford-Astra Zeneca’s Vaccine

The COVID-19 vaccine jointly developed by Oxford University and Astra Zeneca was approved by the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency on Wednesday morning.

It was recommended by the agency for public usage, and very soon the government of UK is going to roll it out to its people. UK is really in need of the vaccine because of the threat faced by the new fast-transmitting variant of the coronavirus.

This vaccine and its approval is considered a very good news by the UK. It is described as a game-changer because this vaccine is cheaper than the Pfizer vaccine and is very easy for storing. Pfizer requires extremely low temperatures whereas this vaccine can be stored at normal fridge temperatures.

Millions of doses are ready to go, and the government is going to order in mass quantity; close to 100 million doses. There will be extensive preparation over delivery of vaccine to the public.

More than 70, 000 have died and 2.3 million active cases are present in the UK due to the coronavirus till date.
