Special things to watch out for:

The organizers took lot of efforts to know how well the rural side of Covai is getting virtually connected. It was found that in many homes with two children, there are no individual smartphones for the individuals to learn from home. Now through the Vizha’s ‘Gift a Device’ initiative, you can donate the gadgets that you don’t use at the pick-up spots set by the organizers in different part of Covai, and give the less-fortunate kids a great opportunity to learn without any hindrance.

Another event is Pitch Fest. It is a platform where start-ups and innovations from Covai can attract investors and raise funds.  It will be held between Jan 8-9, 2021.

Women entrepreneurship Summit is another important program that comes in this year’s edition. The summit focuses and encourages more ‘womenpreneurs’ to take up leading roles, responsibilities and running businesses. It will be a half-day summit, where experts and achievers will address. (To know more about it visit the vizha’s official site)

Giving preference to agriculture, the organizers have scheduled an event where experts from Tamil Nadu Agriculture will virtually speak about organic farming, vertical farming, new avenues in agricultural entrepreneurship, etc.

The launch of the book titled ‘Birds of Coimbatore’ on Jan 8, will definitely be a treat for the bibliophiles, as it will feature so many unique things about the type of bird in this rich, bio-diverse part of the country. The GPS Co-ordinates to 40 birding sports around Covai will be given in the book, QR codes to know more about the myriad birds we see, and much more are all there in the book.

When there is food for brain, there must be food for the belly. Of course, there is plenty of space to show your skills in cooking, and also indulge in delicacies around Covai. There will be a virtual food fest taking place during the vizha. A dozen restaurants in the city will offer new and special menu during the Vizha while some of them will offer special discounts too. Food bloggers’ contribution will also be in this.

Some of the smaller and famous restaurants that have not reached the newbies’ eyes will be highlighted in blogs.

It is all about Hope

Aishwarya Arjun, Past Chair of Covai Vizha stated “this 13th edition of the Vizha aims to set a tone of hope, resilience and looking ahead at 2021 with gratitude. The main focus will be to give back to the city and the society by conducting events that address people from all walks of life, while ensuring their impact is felt and seen long after the vizha is over”, she added.

She conveyed that the Monuments of the city like Clock Tower, PSG Bridge and much more will be lit during the period.  She invited Coimbatoreans to light up diyas to share the sign of hope and new beginning of 2021.
