SRIOR kicks-off Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology and Research (SRIOR) distributed 5000 pink N-95 Face Masks on Thursday as a part of its Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.

Breast cancer remains a huge threat to women regardless of whether they are in an economically developed country or an underdeveloped/poor country. Awareness about it is emphasized a lot in October around the globe (with Pink being the color of such awareness) to give clear knowledge on ways to be safe and tackle this disease.

SRIOR has been conducting breast cancer screening free of cost for rural and urban women in 6 districts around Coimbatore under its Project Deepam. The team at SRIOR has screened 2.88 lakh women free of cost so far. SRIOR’s Director Dr. P Guhan, says breast cancer can be fully cured if detected at very early stages.

Free breast cancer screening for women will be provided at SRIOR throughout the month. If any woman is suspected to have a high risk, she will be subject to mammography free of cost from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from 1st October to 31st October.
