Duplicate MSG products are real cause of misconception – Ajinomoto India

Ajinomoto is safe to consume and poses no threat however its fake versions that predominantly come from China and from certain domestic markets are the root-cause of fear among people from using MSG, said Govinda Biswas in a virtual press conference held here on Wednesday.

The copycat versions of Ajinomoto’s MSG are the real threat and competition to the company’s taste enhancer products, while misconception about the safety has also made it a challenge for them to convince the public.

Mr.Biswas said that Ajinomoto’s MSG has been certified as safe by food regulatory body in different markets to which it caters its products. India is the company’s 4th largest market and here it is approved by FSSAI.Safety certificate is issued in countries like the United States of America, Japan, Thailand and India, only after strict quality tests.

Apart from MSG, the Japanese seasoning company also manufactures AJITIDE I+G, which is meant for food industries. This product is a similar taste enhancer and has higher concentration while Ajinomoto is meant for the home and hotel cooking usage.

Mr.Biswas stated that the company is taking all measures to put an end to fake versions that are available in the market and create awareness to the consumers that theirs is safe in every way.
