Sri Ramakrishna Students create awareness about Organ Donation & Cleanliness

Sri Ramakrishna Arts and Science College (SRCAS) students conveyed the importance of Organ Donation & Cleanliness to the people of Coimbatore through a street-play and mime on 7.1.2020.The NSS Students staged the awareness program inside Gandhipuram Town Bus Stand. Through five-acts, the students narrated the value of organ donation in Tamil to give everyone inside the bus stand a clear picture. They also painted organ donation and Swachh Bharat themed awareness caricatures on the pillars of the bus stand.

The students busted the myths surrounding organ donations with their performance and conveyed that every individual can donate 8 of vital organs and save 8 lives. A mime based on Swachh Bharat was also staged. The impact of a polluted ambience on residents was presented. The mime and street-play was viewed by hundreds of commuters in the bus stand.

Talking to The Covai Mail, Dr.K.Karunakaran, Principal & Secretary, SRCAS said “every year, we make several organ donation awareness activities. So far we have created awareness about organ donation to 2 lakh people. In just 1 day, 13,000 individuals have volunteered to donate organs. Today we have done this activity as a part of Kovai Vizha”.

R.Sundar, Joint Managing  Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust said “People today have developed a positive idea towards organ donation. Our focus through this event was to spread the awareness to a larger number of people in the city. At Sri Ramakrishna Hospitals we do organ transplantation and also do registration for organ donation. If a willing-person is identified fit for organ donation, he/she can certainly register with us to donate organs in future”
