700 kids pedal for a cause

Coimbatore United Round Table 186 conducted a fun Cycling event for kids – Kutti Roadies on 17.11.2019, where the kids gathered and pedaled it out with their friends for the cause – Freedom Through Education (FTE).

Under the FTE program, the Members of RTI (called Tablers) would identify needy Schools for underprivileged that are operating from dilapidated or open structures; schools that have land available but little resources to take up big ticket expenditures like Construction. It is here that RTI steps in and builds School Blocks with Amenities across India to help such efforts and hands over newly constructed quality school Blocks to the school bodies.

The event was also held as a road safety awareness program for the kids.  The participating kids were taught how to follow all the Traffic signals and signs. A total of 700 kids participated in this event. The event featured 500 meter, 1 km and 5 km categories.

Tr.Pradeep Rajappa (Area 7 Vice Chairman), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He spoke on why road safety is very important and also encouraged kids to follow traffic discipline. The event commenced with a fun warm up session, with music playing along. The focus was on giving the kids an fun experience to ride in a group. The main highlight of this event was to educate kids on road safety and follow traffic rules and regulations. All the Participants were given a Helmet, T shirts and a goodie bag each.

Organizers ensured that the Kids were wearing helmets while riding. The children were also given an Orientation on Road safety, before the Cycle ride commenced. Various traffic lights, zebra crossings and traffic signs were installed on the track. All the participating kids were taught how to follow all the Traffic signals and signs.

The children were really motivated while riding together. Parents also really enjoyed seeing their kids cycle. After the completion of the race, all the kids were given a Certificate and a Medal. Breakfast was provided at the venue for the participants.
