Secret Eye to monitor Traffic violators in city

Uyir was launched and inaugurated by Edappadi K.Palaniswami, CM of TN in presence of S.P.Velumani, Minister for Municipal Administrations, Rural Development & Implementation of Special Programmes on 27th November, 2018 at CODISSIA. The aim of Uyir is to make Coimbatore an accident free Society.

Addressing the press at the Chamber Hall of ICICC, Dr.S.Rajasekaran, Vijay Mohan of Uyir and M.Krishnan, MD, Sri Krishna Sweets spoke of a latest technology to prevent both accidents and crime. Uyir in order to save lives has identifies 40+ junctions which will have hi-tech cameras. Work on five junctions has already been completed and will be inaugurated tomorrow. The total cost for upgradation of junctions has been put at INR 5 Crores.

Facilities at the junction will include number recognition cameras, signal duration changing software depending on the number of vehicles waiting along with Solar enabled UPS so that work is not hampered in case of power cuts. In case of rallies,  to prevent untoward incidents as well as to prevent criminals from escaping the law, the police has been provided with 70 body cameras. These body cameras will send live footage of any incident directly to the control room within seconds. The solar UPS at the junctions can record footages up to 3 hours.
