We have often seen in a few big budget-Hollywood films a flight that takes the US President exclusively to some secret destinations. It would be huge and piloted by expert airmen with advanced defence systems. The President’s room will be like a luxury suite with excellent communication systems and host many skilled secret agents. In reality, this flight exists and it is called Air Force One. It is a majestic aircraft that symbolizes USA power.
India already has a similar flight to escort the President& PM but not on par with Air Force One in some aspects. Now, we have news that by the end of this year, India’s President and Prime Minister will be getting 2 Boeing 777s airplanes which will have the same highly advanced defence systems such as Missile Warning, Ultra Precise Satellite Communication and highly advanced Missile Warning System.
Currently, the aircrafts are in USA where they are being fitted with Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures and Self Protection Suites which costs a massive USD 190.India has requested these be added to the aircrafts which could make the flights, flying fortresses. India currently uses B747 jumbo jets to serve the President, Vice President and PM. An upgrade to the flights would make our Leaders work with more confidence while travelling to distant nations.
