Some actors are famous for their charm, some for acting prowess but only a select few are renowned for both. Actor Jeremy Renner, today’s birthday boy is such a personality. He was known to Indians only after he played the role Hawkeye in the epic blockbuster – The Avengers. Ever since then, he became one of the important actors to look out for, in Hollywood films releasing in India.
But did you know that Renner’s breakthrough came from the 2002 movie Dahmer? Hollywood embraced him when he played the role of Jeffrey Dahmer – a serial killer. If an actor is loved and appreciated for playing a heroic character, it doesn’t make eyes pop and jaws drop… but imagine a person playing the antagonist’s role (villain) and getting recognized for it!
That is the fruit of true art work and hard work. As far as basic human psychology is concerned, in a movie, we will fall for the hero and no matter how poorly he acts, we will want him to win the fight, but Jeremy’s recognition came because of his balanced portrayal of a serial killer and a neglected son.
He later on went on to act in greater roles in the films such as The Hurt Locker for which he was nominated for the Oscar’s Best Actor award, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol besides legendary Tom Cruise, Bourne: Legacy, Wind River and the epoch-making block buster ‘The Avengers’. Renner became one of Hollywood’s most favorite heroes by playing a villain.
He is also a real-estate developer and a motorbike fanatic.
