Forget disease transmission during Dialysis

Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore recently witnessed the inauguration a new Dialysis center which will be a day care unit in association with Fresenius Medical Care. Known as Center of Excellence, this is only the second in the country. The newly opened dialysis unit has the state of the art facilities and overcomes all flaws experienced in a normal dialysis unit. In fact, a company official mentioned that the margin of error through this method will be less than 0.5 per cent.

A healthy kidney prevents accumulation of extra water, waste, and other impurities in the body. They also help control blood pressure and regulate the levels of chemical elements in the blood. Kidneys even activate a form of vitamin D that improves the absorption of calcium.

When kidneys can’t perform these functions, dialysis is done to help keep the body running as normally as far as possible. Without dialysis, salts and other waste products will remain accumulated in the blood, poison the body and damage other organs.

There will be no transmission of diseases like Hepatitis as commonly found in most dialysis cases; since this advanced center at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital will not be using tubes and has the world’s best RO plant installed with the water quality specifically meant for the purpose. The Ro plant will be filtered throughouly. The center will remain open irrespective of public holidays and weekends which will be a huge boost especially for working professionals and those coming from other regions.

The advanced dialysis options include high-flux hemodialysis and online hemodiafiltration. Online hemodiafiltration allows better removal of waste products from the blood, contributing to improved survival for patients compared to those receiving standard hemodialysis.
