The Department of Civil Engineering at Dr.N.G.P. Institute of Technology (NGPiTECH), Coimbatore, organized a one-day seminar in association with The Institution of Engineers (India), Coimbatore Local Centre on 14th July 2023. It focused on “Remote Sensing & GIS Application in Flood Mapping, Monitoring, and Flood Damage Assessment.”
Shanmugam, Chairman of The Institution of Engineers (India), Coimbatore Local Centre, delivered the welcome address, and S.U. Prabha, Principal of NGPiTECH, felicitated the gathering. P. Muthupriya, HOD of Civil Engineering, provided an introduction to the seminar.
The event featured two technical sessions presented by experts from academia and industry. In the afternoon session, a technical paper presentation took place. Subhasis Mitra, Assistant Professor at IIT Palakkad, served as the Chief Guest. Additionally, R. Ilangovan, Former Chief Engineer of PWD, Coimbatore, & Vice Chairman of Tamil Nadu Water Resource Department, Chennai, delivered a keynote on “GIS Tool for Climate Change and River Basins Understanding.”
