Corporate Responsibility in Focus at ATBC 2023: Prioritizing Nature-Based Actions

The 59th Annual Meeting of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC) to be held from 2nd to 6th July 2023 in Coimbatore. It is to be hosted by Indian Regional Association for Landscape Ecology (IRALE) and Kumaraguru Institutions (KI) with the support of the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON), Indian Institution of Science, Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal, OSAI Conservation NGO, and Government Arts & Science College, Ooty. The venue of the meeting will be the Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) Campus, Saravanampatti, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

This was announced during the press meet held today in the presence of Ramesh Krishnamoorthy, Chair – ATBC 2023, Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, Saravanan Chandrasekaran, Co-Chair – ATBC 2023, GM, Kumaraguru Institutions, Karunakaran, Scientist, Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Kalidass, Osai Environmental Organisation at Kumaraguru City Centre, Coimbatore.

The event, under the theme “Balancing Science, Conservation, and Society,” will focus on terrestrial, marine, and coastal landscapes, including forested and agricultural systems, climate change, and the One Health approach. The meeting will bring together professionals, researchers, educators, and conservationists from around the world, featuring symposia, workshops, poster presentations, cultural performances, and technology and mission LIFE pavilions.

The event expects over 500 delegates, including 200+ international participants from 12 countries and 300+ Indian delegates, with a strong representation of young professionals and students. Inspirational keynote speakers will address global and regional conservation issues. Additionally, two side events will cover the role of corporations in nature-based actions and the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve’s community engagement for climate resilience. The meeting aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration, informing decision-making, policy formulation, and conservation efforts on both local and global scales.
