Major fire breaks out in Mumbai building!

Thirteen fire engines, seven water jetties, among others, are involved in the firefighting operation in Mumbai this morning as a major fire broke out at a 20 storey building, killing 2 and injuring at least 17.

The 18th floor of this residential building in Tardeo area of central Mumbai is the place where the fire broke out around 7 a.m. as per reports.

PTI reported the information shared by an official with knowledge of the incident “Several persons were injured in the fire. While 15 of them were taken to the nearby Bhatia Hospital, four others were rushed to the Nair Hospital. Doctors at the Bhatia Hospital said that of the 15 injured persons who were brought there, 12 have been admitted to the general ward. The condition of three others is critical and they are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU). According to the official, the firefighting and rescue operation is still on”

Update as of 4 PM:

Reports stated that the blaze has claimed the lives of at least 7 people.  5 died at Nair Hospital while 2 died in another hospital, while one each perished at Kasturba Hospital.
