One of Coimbatore’s renowned personalities, C.R.Swaminathan passed away on the wee hours of Tuesday (14.12.21).
Affectionately called as CRS, Mr.Swaminathan was one of the most towering figures in the Coimbatore district, and he held key positions in almost all reputed associations in the city.
Some of them includes the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore (ICCIC), Southern India Engineering Manufacturers’ Association (SIEMA), Coimbatore Management Association (CMA), Siruthuli and Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore (RAAC).
Above all, he was the former Chief Executive of the PSG Institutions. He was closely associated with academic administrations for the majority of his life. He is remembered by Coimbatoreans as a very affable, down-to-earth, and a great guide to all who approached him.

I can say without a doubt that he was a strong pillar of Coimbatore, and he was a towering personality. You take any leading association, Mr.Swaminathan would have been its office bearer. His contribution to the development of the associations he was a part of, is immense. If you approach him with a certain problem, he will quickly provide solutions and would also provide guidance. His passing is a great loss for the Chamber, and Coimbatore.

An Eminent Educationist

He was an eminent educationist from Coimbatore, known for his service to the education community for more than four decades. He also contributed much to the industrial development of Coimbatore by heading various management associations.
His services as mentor and Governing council member of various educational institutions are highly laudable and appreciable. Coimbatore management fraternity has lost a great and irreplaceable personality.

C.R.Swaminathan was one of the Wonderful persons I have had the opportunity to be associated with, in various ways, be it education, business, city development, nature and much more.

I first met C.R.Swaminathan in the year 1983 during my MBA admission at PSG Tech. He was warm and friendly. I developed an instant respect for him. I never knew then he would make such a difference in my life.
So far, whatever little I’ve achieved in public life is largely because of him. He was always there to guide, reprimand, advise and support me. He was a one man institution – we could look up to him on any subject. He touched the lives of so many people far and wide. We wanted him to be with us forever, but God is lucky to have him by his side now.

முதல் முதலாக அவரைப் பார்த்தது ஆயிரத்து தொள்ளாயிரத்து எண்பத்தி இரண்டாம் ஆண்டு நான் பிஎஸ்ஜி பொறியியல் கல்லூரியில் மாணவராக சேரும் போதுதான். அன்று தொடங்கி அவர் இருந்த வரை எவ்வித மாற்றமும் இல்லாத ஒரே இயல்பான நேர்மறை மனோபாவம் உள்ளவராகவே இருந்து வந்திருக்கிறார்.
அதுவும் கல்லூரியில் ஒரு நிர்வாகியாக இருந்த போதும் மாணவர், பெற்றோர், ஆசிரியர் என்று அவரவர் கோணத்தில் நின்று சிந்தித்து முடிவுகள் எடுப்பது அவரது தனி வழக்கம். அது பலராலும் பாராட்டப்படுகிறது.
பிறகு நான் படிப்பு முடித்து தொழிலிலும் வந்து, இந்திய தொழில் வர்த்தக சபை தலைவர், கொங்கு குளோபல் ஃபோரம் என்று பொது செயல்பாடுகளில் அவருடன் இணைந்து பணிபுரியும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்த போதும் அவரைப் பார்த்து வியந்திருக்கிறேன். அவருடைய செயலாற்றும் திறன் அபரிமிதமானது. அவருடைய இயல்பான எளிய அணுகுமுறை, எந்த சிக்கலுக்கும் தீர்வு உண்டு எனும் பாசிட்டிவ் குணம், அவருக்கு இருந்த நண்பர்கள் உள்ளிட்ட தொடர்புகள் இவையே அவருடைய பலமாக இருந்தன.
எந்த ஒரு செயல்பாடு என்றாலும் ஒரு முன் களப்பணியாளர்கள் போல ஊக்குவிப்பதாக உடன் வந்து நிற்பது அவருடைய சமர்ப்பணம். அவர் நம்மை விட்டுப் பிரிந்தாலும் அவரின் ஆசீர்வாதமும் வழிகாட்டுதலும் என்றென்றும் நம்முடன் நிலைத்திருக்கும் என்று நம்புகிறேன்.
A Good Human-Being!

Swaminathan was popular across South India. He was part of many esteemed professional associations, and he developed several leaderships in Coimbatore. He brought younger generation into these associations, and guided them to become office bearers.
I was closely associated with him for more than 25 years. He was a good human being, and one who treated the CEOs and the Common folks alike. He was person who always liked to listen to the problems of people who seek his support, and deliver solutions.
I have seen many second and third generation entrepreneurs receive counselling and mentorship from him. His demise is a terrible loss to Coimbatore and Tamil Nadu.

செருக்கூரி ராமசாமி சாமிநாதன் செருக்கில்லா நாயகன் சாமிநாதன் கோவையின் முகமாய், குரலாய் தேவையின்போது எழுந்து நின்றவர். பலதுறைப் பதவிகள் பெற்றவர், பரலோகப் பதவியும் பெற்றுவிட்டார். அவரது ஆன்மா சாந்தி அடையட்டும்.
கோவையின் ஒரு அடையாளம்!

சட்டென கவரும் சிரிப்பு, வாஞ்சையோடு முதுகில் தட்டும் நட்பு, மிடுக்கான உடை, கம்பீரமான நடை, 20 வயது முதல் 80 வயது வரை அனைவரிடமும் அக்கறையான பேச்சு, கல்வி, வியாபாரம், பொருளாதாரம் உலக நடப்பு எல்லாவற்றிலும் விஸ்தாரமான அறிவு.
அத்தனை மனிதரையும் சமமாகப் பாவிக்கும் தன்மை, எவ்வளவு பெரிய சவால்களையும் எளிதாகக் கையாளும் திறமை, பொதுக் காரியத்தில் முனைப்போடு செயல்பட்டு அடக்கத்தோடு இருக்கும் குணம், அலைபேசியில் எப்போது தொடர்பு கொண்டாலும் உடனடியாக உதவ ஆலோசனை கொடுக்கத் தயாரான குரல்.
சாத்வீகமான நகைச்சுவை யோடு மனிதர்களை அணுகும் தன்மை, தான் வாழ்ந்த கோவையிலிருந்து மாநிலம், உலகம் முழுவதும் நண்பர்களால் நேசிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு ஆன்மா. சிஆர்எஸ் அண்ணாவைப் பற்றி எதைக் கூறுவது? எதை விடுவது? கோவை அதன் அடையாளங்களில் ஒன்றை தொலைத்து விட்டது. ஈடுசெய்ய முடியாத பேரிழப்பு.
அவர் செய்த மகத்தான பணிகள் மூலமாக கோவை மக்களின் மனதில் எப்போதும் வாழ்ந்து கொண்டே இருப்பார்.
A Legendary Leader

It is very sad to hear the news of C. R. Swaminathan’s unexpected demise. He is a legendry leader in upholding the values of Education in the western part of Tamilnadu with his voluntary services as council member in numerous educational institutions.
He has equally contributed to Industry-Institute partnerships in Southern Region with his rich knowledge and expertise. His leadership and mentorship evolved many new ideas in organizing many events in CODISSIA for the benefit of people of all the sectors.
