GKNMH observes ‘Pinktober’

Dozens of pink balloons were sent flying towards the sky on Friday by the Oncology Department doctors and staff of G.Kuppusamy Naidu Memorial Hospital (GKNMH), as a part of World Breast Cancer Awareness Month observance.

Dr.A.Rajkumar, Chairman, Dept. of Oncology, GKNMH said that the hospital has taken several awareness initiatives during this month like organizing a free breast screening camp on the campus, creating awareness about breast cancer symptoms and the importance of mammogram tests.

“We have conducted screening camps in the community and also gave awareness talks in few companies”, he shared. “Women in their 40s should consider undergoing breast screening. It is necessary for those above 45 to undergo this test once in two years”, he added.
