PM addresses Toycathon Contestants at Sri Krishna College

“Hackathons give ideas to national problems. It gives solutions and peace to our country”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly said during his virtual interaction with contestants of Toycathon 2021 at Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology.

Toycathon 2021 is an inter-ministerial initiative organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell. It is a unique opportunity for Students, Teachers, Start-ups and Toy experts/professionals in India to submit their innovative toys/games concepts and win a large number of prizes worth Rs. 50 lakhs.

Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology (SKCET) was chosen by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell for hosting the Grand Finale of “Toycathon 2021 – Digital Edition” from 22nd to 24th June 2021.

Currently, India’s toy market stands at around 1.5 Billion USD, which primarily is dominated by imported toys. Moreover, the majority of these toys do not represent Indian heritage, civilization and value systems.

Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology was selected as one of the nodal center to host the event. At SKCET, totally 21 teams that consist of 96 student participants are competing against 9 Problem Statements.

On Thursday, the PM addressed the students at SKCET. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the participants through video conferencing on Thursday. Athik Mohamed from Heritage Race Team interacted with PM and shared his ideas about the project ‘Heritage Race’. Athik enthusiastically presented his idea to PM Modi.

His work is about developing tourism through virtual means. Athik has developed an indoor cycling game which also gives virtual view in and around of Taj Mahal through wearing a VR headset combined with traditional music. PM Narendra Modi appreciated the idea of the student and raised queries on the same. He was happy that there are lot of positive responses owing to this Toycathon – 2021.
