Rotary Saicity & Cognizant donate 1000 PCs to Rural Schools

The importance of digital way of learning has been well-understood by all during the Covid-scenario worldwide but schools in rural areas that have little resources, struggle to house a computer for the educational purposes of the students.

To provide support to these schools, Rotary Club of Coimbatore Saicity and IT giant Cognizant joined hands to donate one-thousand computers to 152 rural community schools located in several districts of Tamil Nadu on Monday (22.2.2021)

These 1000 computers will reach 152 schools that are in Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Nilgris, Tiruvannamalai and Kanchipuram, a press release said. Textbooks for all classes, e-books have been installed for all classes along with other essential programs required. The total number of students benefitting from this initiative will be more than 80,000.

Rtn.Jose Chacko, Dist.Governor R.I.Dist 3201 and Maya Sreekumar, Vice-President, Center-Head , Cognizant Coimbatore were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor of the event, respectively. The distribution took place at Cheshire Homes in Peelamedu in the presence of Rtn.R.S.Maruthi, Dist Director, Rtn.Antony Johnson, Asst.Governor, Rtn.Valli S.Kanakaraj, GGR, Rtn.PP.Lakshman, Community Service and Rtn.Murugan, Dist.Chairman- Youth Services.
