New variant of coronavirus is 70% more infectious

A new strain of coronavirus was identified in England recently, and world nations are halting flight services to and from Britain, and India said that it knows what is happening out there.

The new variant is called as VUI-202012/01. So far is thought to have first occurred in mid-September in London.  England’s Public Health agency identified the virus’s full seriousness and reported it to the Government on December 18. On the same day, the United Kingdom submitted its findings to the World Health Organization.

This virus is spreading fast in south-east of England. Britain’s Health Minister Matt Hancock has stated that the lockdown in effect at London and south-east England might continue for months as this new variant of the coronavirus is going out of control.

Sources are claiming that the new strain does not pose any new lethality but this mutation appears to be 70 percent more infectious. Several countries including Saudi Arabia, Canada, Netherlands, Portugal, France, Argentina, Italy have announced that they are banning fights from UK.

On Monday, India’s Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said in a press meet that India knows what is going at UK in regards to new variant of the covid causing virus. “The government is fully conscious about everything.”

He urged the reporters to not be worried about imaginations and fears. “There is no need to panic over imaginary situations and descriptions. I don’t think, the situation is such to create a panic here, but let me tell you that our scientists are closely keeping eye on every development.”

Update:
