Farmers affected by lack of cold storage facilities in Coimbatore – Vanathi Srinivasan

A tractor rally was held on behalf of the BJP in Coimbatore to apprise the farmers of the benefits of the three agricultural laws enacted by the central government.

The campaign that began at Perur was flagged off by Vanathi Srinivasan, National President of the Women’s Wing of the Bharatiya Janatha Party. She met reporters later and said, “We are launching the campaign to create awareness among the farmers about the three agricultural laws enacted by the central government.”

“ The opposition parties are playing with the lives of innocent farmers in the name of farmers’ agitation. Parties like the Congress and the DMK which promised help to the farmers and good market for agricultural produce in their election manifesto have done nothing so far. But, when Prime Minister Modi enacts laws that they promised to help farmers, they are politicizing it.”

“Farmers have been offered whatever was required in full. The laws have been brought in to get a good price for agricultural produce and they are being opposed for political reasons. People won’t believe that all those who appear in a green shawl are farmers.”

When questioned about Ambani and Adhani setting up cold storage facilities in a big way, she said that in Thondamuthur a lot of grape fruit and small onions have been harvested and that the producers are affected because there is no cold storage facility. And cold storage facilities can be provided not only by Ambani or Adhani but by anyone.

Later, notices were distributed regarding the truths and lies about the three farm laws brought in by the central government.
