Women entrepreneurship and employment is crucial

FICCI Tamil Nadu State Council and FICCI FLO Chennai in collaboration with Amway India organized a Webinar on Women Empowerment through Entrepreneurship and Employment recently.

Anu George, IAS Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce, Government of Tamil Nadu delivered the inaugural address.

Speaking at the event, Anu said, ‘Women entrepreneurship and employment is crucial, as increased participation of women in economic activities will significantly contribute to the country’s progress. Unlocking entrepreneurship among women in India provides an unprecedented opportunity to change the economic and social path of the country and its women for generations. Evidence shows that putting economic resources in women’s hands is the best way to accelerate development and sustainably improve the socio-economic conditions.”

Rajat Banerji, Mentor, FICCI Direct Selling Task Force, and National Head- Corporate Affairs, Amway India who took part in the webinar said, “Today, micro-entrepreneurship is gaining momentum as the country grapples with job loss, unemployment, and salary cuts. This has created opportunities for women to work independently. Women play an intrinsic role in strengthening the socio-economic landscape of our country. We believe empowering and providing the right platform to them is crucial to open equal opportunities for women in all fields. The fact that the majority of Amway direct sellers are women is a testimony to our commitment and contribution towards empowering women entrepreneurship,”

The session also included a panel discussion on decoding the mantra behind the journey of successful women entrepreneurs. The panel discussion also spotlighted the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, taking women entrepreneurship to the grassroots level and the future of Women Entrepreneurship – Creating a conducive ecosystem. Moderated by Rangapriya Goutham, Partner, Two Trees Workspace, and Cretium Business Solutions & Director, Verginia Tech India, the panelists included S Akilandeshewari, Amway Business Owner, Shrivyshnavi Annush, Founder, Pookaari, Curated Fashion, and Revathi Roy, Founder, Hey Deedee.
