Sri Krishna College students’ Innovative tech wins big at SIH 2020

Students develop Prisoners Tracking System to prevent suspicious activities

Team Zero_Buggers from Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology have won the first prize at the Software Edition of Smart India Hackathon 2020 for their innovation ‘Tracking and Prevention of any suspicious activity of the inmates in the Jail’. 

The project was developed by the team for Ministry of Technical Education, Chandigarh. They developed an innovative system which includes a webcam and a screen that will be placed in front of each block of the jail along with the turnstile.

When a prisoner wants to leave his block to visit another block, he can leave and enter only when the turnstile opens where the students have used face recognition, gesture recognition and speech recognition that will be stored in the data to track the activities of the jail mates and to find the suspicious inmates doing unwanted works.

Team Zero_Buggers includes III Year Computer Science and Engineering students A.Vijayaalayan, Swetha.V, Naveen Kumar.B, Nithin K.M, Sanjaiy Kumar.T.N and Kiran Subramanian. The project was guided by Dr.S.Balakrishnan, Professor and Head, Computer Science and Business Systems, SKCET.

They took home the cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakh. S.Malarvizhi, Chairperson and Managing Trustee of Sri Krishna Institutions congratulated the Principal of the college Dr.J.Janet, , faculty mentors and students for securing the First prize in Smart India Hackathon 2020 – Software edition.
