Boeing-Learning Links Foundation trainees graduate in aerospace manufacturing program

Learning Links Foundation announced the graduation of 28 trainees under the Learn & Earn Program sponsored by Boeing, in association with GKD Institute for Technological Resources and Lakshmi Machine Works Limited. The valedictory ceremony was graced by MC Sampath, Minister for Industries, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The training focused on imparting skills in design and manufacturing of tools for the aerospace sector, and is aimed at strengthening the aerospace ecosystem in India by curating an industry-aligned curriculum for training youth on employable skills. The curriculum was designed by Learning Links Foundation, an NGO working in education and skill building since 2002, in consultation with Boeing and LMW, with the aim of making graduates industry-ready.

This is the first such program in Tamil Nadu to prepare a future-ready workforce in aerospace manufacturing, including MSMEs.

 Speaking at the valedictory ceremony, Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Chairman and Managing Director, Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd. said, “Lakshmi Machine Works has the rich tradition of deep commitment to skill building. We value our association with Boeing India and LLF to bring the ‘Learn and Earn’ training program on aerospace tool design and manufacture and build expertise for the Tamil Nadu Defence and Aerospace Corridor.”

Salil Gupte, President, Boeing India congratulated the graduates and said, “This is Boeing’s first skill development initiative for aerospace manufacturing in Tamil Nadu, to ensure that micro, small and medium enterprises in the state are ready to compete globally. Boeing’s skill development initiatives in India are very much in line with the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.”

The students went through six months classroom training at GKD Institute for Technological Resources (GKDITR), followed by six months on the job at LMW Advanced Technology Centre, Coimbatore. It also included technical and soft skills training that will find them opportunities in the Tamil Nadu Defence and Aerospace Corridor.
